Bird’s Eye was created one year after my mother’s death as a statement of recovery and healing. Despite suffering from mental illness for most of her life, her struggle to show love remained constant until the end. Upon the hour of her passing, I was engulfed in a wash of lightness, release and the feeling of freedom. My dear mom is honoured in this fibre art piece by the spirit and joy present in the newness of spring and the flock of little birds flying overhead, smiling down on all the loved ones below.
