Each of us makes a mark from the moment of our birth. The way we live our life influences not only ourselves but also future generations. The Meaning of a Life follows the thread of this concept through a curved strip panel, juxtapositioned amidst graphic geometrical shapes.

Representing the artist’s lifeline, each of the richly coloured, textured fabrics within the central focal piece has been meticulously chosen and freely cut as an expression of experiences, inspirations and lessons learnt. The dark tight grid to the far left captures the hardship of oppression and poverty through war and immigration, experienced by previous generations. Symbolic of the journey to Canada and a new beginning, the grid beside it loosens and relaxes in size, colour, and possibility. The vivid explosion of colourful squares to the right represents the freedom of opportunity and inherited wisdom past down to those who are just starting their lives, or yet to come.
