A community of like-spirited figures with arms open and welcoming, dance, exist and help one another through all the textures of life on this muted hand-dyed piece of cloth by Val Wilson. One isolated figure sits hunched in a rectangular cell with nothing but shadow surrounding him all around. Although the purple lines of communication are freely offered, the only obtainable solutions here are pain, loneliness, alienation and abandonment. Layers and layers of multicoloured tulle are built up throughout the piece and juxtapositioned with the few random hard seams at the bottom to symbolize the complexity and fragility of life and its conditions.
